School Uniform
Why have a School Uniform?
Governors of the school believe that a school uniform is an important contributor to the overall success of the school and therefore expect that the school uniform will be worn by all children. The information on this page will outline:
- The reasons for having a school uniform
- What the school uniform consists of
- Making the uniform accessible
- How the school will deal with non-adherence
The Governing Body will ensure that the school uniform guidelines are included within the Home School Agreement.
Why having a school uniform is important to Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School.
The governing body of Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School believes that a school uniform is important in building the pupils’ sense of identity and belonging to the community of the school. It instils a sense of pride in the school and supports positive behaviour. It is one of the symbols of the ethos of the school and protects children from social pressures whatever their race, religion, gender or background.
There are other advantages to having a school uniform which are important to the governing body such as security. A uniform enables pupils to be identified easily and means that any intruders can be identified swiftly.
All items of school uniform should be clearly labelled with the child’s name.
It is important that children have sensible shoes for school with buckles or Velcro - no sports labelled shoes may be worn.
Trainers are only part of the outdoor P.E. uniform and should not be worn at other times during the school day. Open-toed sandals, shoes with raised heels, clogs or mules should not be worn. These are not suitable for school especially at play times.
In the interests of safety, no jewellery – chains, rings or decorative ear rings – may be worn in school. Stud earrings for pierced ears are acceptable.
Long hair should be tied back and 'extreme' or 'fashion' haircuts should not be considered during term times.
Nail polish and temporary tattoos are not acceptable as part of the school uniform.
Standard ‘non-toy’ watches may be worn although the school cannot take responsibility for them and they must be removed for P.E. lessons.
Accessibility to school uniform
The governing body recognises the need to ensure that the uniform is affordable. The school will also
ensure that parents or carers where necessary know about any local authority schemes that can provide school clothing grants or other help towards the cost of school clothing.
Non-Adherence
The governing body will insist that the school is considerate and discreet when trying to establish why a pupil is not adhering to the school’s uniform policy. The school will work with parents and carers to find acceptable solutions that will help the pupil adhere to the uniform policy.
Whilst the Head teacher may discipline pupils appropriately for non-adherence to the policy, exclusion from the school will not be deemed appropriate action unless non-adherence is persistent and defiant.

**********NEW PE KITS**********
From September 2021 parents can purchase our new PE kits from the school office. Our PE kit consists of a Corpus Christi sports top, Corpus Christi jogging bottoms and Corpus Christi shorts.
PE kits may be worn for the whole day on the day that your child does PE with the exception of those children in Reception. It is important for children in Reception to learn how to get changed independently and they will be expected to continue to wear uniform on the day of their PE lessons and get changed into their PE kits.
Please note that Boys' school shorts and Girls' summer dresses must only be worn after the Easter break up until October half term.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding when adhering to the Corpus Christi Uniform policy.
